The Critical Links Education Appliance™ will be included in the Telefonica Learning Services’ Portfolio; ideal for use in rural areas or areas with limited access infrastructure

PRINCETON, NJ

Critical Links, a pioneer in delivering Information & Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure solutions for the next-generation of schools, announced today that Telefonica Learning Services (TLS), will distribute its Education Appliance™ platform, bundled along with its other product and services.

TLS is a company within the Telefónica Group that specializes in offering comprehensive online learning solutions for Education and Training. The Critical Links Education Appliance™ will continue to reinforce TLS’ commitment to delivering creative, relevant and impactful education solutions to schools.

The Critical Links Education Appliance™, offers a comprehensive suite of capabilities to schools, and has been widely deployed around the world; it offers vital Learning, Networking and Adminstrative capabilities on a single, simple-to-use platform.

In addition, the features of this platform make it ideal for use in more remote areas, rural areas or areas with limited infrastructure. The reason is that it creates a network environment between all the devices connected to the platform, enabling them to share documents and work as a network but without needing any type of infrastructure. As an example, the platform can be programmed to download internet content at a specific time and later make this content available off-line to a group of students anytime of the day. Finally, it is also important to highlight that some of the platform’s equipment is powered by solar panels, which, alongside its low energy consumption, make it more suitable for remote areas or those with limited power supply.

“We are always striving to offer valuable services to our customers, and are pleased to include the Critical Links Education Appliance in our portfolio”, noted Carolina Jeux, CEO of Telefonica Learning Services. “We believe that the capabilities of the Education Appliance will be appealing to our customers around the world”, she added.

“We are delighted to be part of the TLS’ education portfolio, and look forward to enabling the next-generation of schools with our innovative and field-tested product, with an established leader like TLS”, said Joao Carreira, CEO of Critical Links.

Based on the Intel® Learning Series (ILS), the Critical Links Education Appliance™ is the world’s first purposebuilt education server that essentially provides a ‘Local School ICT Cloud’, with all the vital IT capabilities required in the next generation of schools.

The Critical Links Education Appliance™ has been deployed around the world, including in one of the world’s largest school modernization programs, in Portugal .
