Critical Links Joins the Millennium@EDU Global Initiative to Reach 15 Million Students worldwide
PRINCETON, NJ
Critical Links, a pioneer in delivering Information & Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure solutions for School 2.0 – the next generation of schools, announced today that it has become a founding member of the Millennium Program, as part of the Millennium@EDU global initiative.
The Millennium@EDU Initiative is bringing together some of the world’s largest technology companies with local companies and other stakeholders, with the goal of providing at least another 15 million students around the world access to information, communications, and science technologies (ICSTs) for learning and education.
The stakeholders share the view of the United Nations, as expressed in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), that ICSTs must be successfully integrated into education systems to promote 21 century skills and prepare young generations for the new workspace and daily life.
To kick-start and accelerate this integration, Millennium@EDU has established the Millennium@EDU Program. This Program will be responsible for the global development and implementation of national, regional and local projects which meet three objectives: educational transformation, internet connectivity, and socioeconomic improvement.
Millennium@EDU will offer a comprehensive “Millennium@EDU Solution Pack”, a flexible and customizable bundle, that provides access to the state-of-art technologies to students and teachers worldwide at an attractive price.
The Critical Links Education ApplianceTM will be part of this solution pack, and a special version – labeled as the EA-M25 has been introduced specifically for the Millennium Program. The EA-M25 will provide the Learning, Administration (of devices, student information etc), and Networking capabilities necessary, in a single platform; it is integrated with other products in the Solution Pack and can support up to 500 student users. With an Education Appliance, a School can now easily and cost effectively manage its hardware, software, content, and student data.
Based on the Intel® Learning Series (ILS), the Critical Links Education ApplianceTM is the world’s first purposebuilt education server that essentially provides a ‘Local School ICT Cloud’, with all the vital IT capabilities required in the next generation of schools.
The Critical Links Education ApplianceTM has been deployed around the world, including in one of the world’s largest school modernization programs, in Portugal .
